I joined WBS in 2020 from the University of Leicester, where I had worked since 2015 and for three years as Head of the Accounting Division at the School of Business. Prior to coming to the UK, I had worked for sixteen years at Bielefeld University in Germany, where I edited Zeitschrift für Soziologie, one of the leading German-language peer-review journals in sociology, from 2008 to 2015. I am member of the editorial board of Zeitschrift für Soziologie and of the journal Accounting, Organizations and Society (AOS) as well as of Social and Environmental Accountability Journal (SEAJ), member of the Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR), Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and Associate Editor of European Accounting Review.

Research Interests

I am interested in understanding accounting as a social practice pervasive across organisations, businesses and governments, public and private settings, professions and industries, local communities as well as global discourses and institutions. I am particularly keen on investigating dynamics of accounting change under disruptive conditions and the potential of accounting to address ecological issues such as environmental impact, degradation, and renewal.
